In 2017, the U.S. produced 571 million metric tons of oil and roughly 734.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, according to Statista. And as of 2017, the U.S. was the world’s 9th largest oil reserve and 5th largest natural gas reserve. Additionally, the unemployment rate in the Oil & Gas industry is only 2.4 percent, well below the national average of 3.7 percent. Daily global consumption is expected to grow from 89 million in 2012 to up to 109 million barrels in 2035. In other words, our extraction of oil and natural gas is at an all-time high, and it’s creating thousands of jobs throughout the U.S. and Canada.
