If you want to be known as an expert in your industry, posting relevant ripped from the headlines news is a great way to start. Don’t forget to add your own thoughts when sharing, people want to know your opinions. To find the latest hot topics, subscribe to Google alerts or use a service like feed.ly.
Connect with local influencers
A quick search on LinkedIn will reveal a wealth of local influencers in your industry. Don’t be afraid to reach out and connect, but do it the right way. Be sure to write customized messages for each connection request you send. Take a few moments to look at their profile and include a note about why you decided to reach out to them specifically.
One of the best things you can do on LinkedIn is be engaging! If people comment on the articles you’re sharing, comment back. If someone sends you a message – ALWAYS RESPOND. You may not be interested in what they’re selling or an opportunity that they contact you about, but you never know where a conversation will lead.
