January 2018 Jobs Report

The year 2018 is already off to a good start with strong job growth for the U.S. economy. Thanks to big pushes from healthcare, education, construction, and the hospitality industries, the U.S. created 200,000 jobs in January 2018, outperforming Wall Street expectations of 180,000 jobs.

In January alone, the U.S. economy gained 21,000 jobs in the healthcare industry, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Construction followed this trend with a whopping 36,000 jobs created. Manufacturing generated 15,000 jobs, as well.

The unemployment rate remained 4.1%, the lowest rate we’ve seen in almost two decades. The labor rate participation rate held at 62.7%, which is the same rate from the previous month.
