Swedish Meatballs
“My family is very Swedish so we have a traditional Swedish Christmas Eve dinner every year. One year my great aunt refused to make the meatballs when talking with my mom on the phone. She made the meatballs every year and if she didn’t make them we wouldn’t have them. When she told my mom that she didn’t want to make them my mom hung up on her. My aunt called back, thinking the line was just disconnected. She continued to talk about how she wasn’t going to make the meatballs; my mom hung up on her again. This continued for about 20 minutes before my aunt realized that my mom was purposely hanging up on her for not making the meatballs. Needless to say she made the meatballs that year. Last year was our first year without her so we all pitched into make the meatballs together; definitely a bittersweet moment.”

The dish is called Toad in the Hole, and it is good, old fashioned English comfort food. I’m not too sure how well it would go down in an American household, but we love it back at home.”
